upau village, Dayak Deah, explore borneo, Borneo White River Rafting Kalimantan is one of Indonesia’s greatest cultural exploration. Tales of fierce headhunters moving stealthily through the rainforest, poisonous blow darts speeding through the air from apparently invisible sources, dangerous bears, giant snakes, and enormous leeches deterred many early explorers. The mystical practices of the Dayaks is well known for their silent stalking through the deepest darkest jungle terrain. Ritual dance is very popular in the interior, mark the transitional stages of life and important village events; coming of age, marriage, death, banishing illness, fighting wars, planting and harvesting rice, that usually held at night, exciting spectacles of screaming. The Dayak also renowned for their mystical dances shows their immunity from scars when climbing and holding the thorny trees.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – DIAMOND DIGGING – RIAM KANAN LAKE – SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK

Meet at airport and directly transfer to Cempaka village to explore people dig hole and take the material out to find rough diamond in a traditional diamond digging. Next, driving to Aranio port to catch our boat crossing the Riam Kanan Lake for enjoying the rainforest and mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, as well as the wildlife on the lakeside. Return to the port and then driving to Sultan Adam Forest Park for check in to the resort. We can spend the afternoon with tea or coffee while enjoying the beautiful view of Meratus Mountain landscape from the resort. (L,D)

Day 02 BANJARMASIN – UPAU VILLAGE

Breakfast at hotel, then continue our trip to visit Upau village for exploring the daily life of Dayak Deah people. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at local house. (B,L,D)

Day 03 UPAU VILLAGE – NAGARA – LOKSADO

After breakfast, we can see mystical performance of Dayak Deah takes about 1,5 hour. In this performance, we will watch some women are dancing followed by traditional music instruments, meanwhile the shaman is climbing the thorny tree with bare hand and foot without getting any hurt on his body. Next, travel to Nagara village for sighting traditional machete making, metal ware, and pottery home industries, then continue our trip to Muning village to get our boat cruising the narrow canal to Nagara lake for observing water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers’ unique activities as well as enjoying the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to Loksado for overnight at lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 04 BAMBOO RAFTING – SUNGAI RUTAS – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will have a soft trekking to Dayak land for exploring the rainforest, longhouse, and the waterfall nearby the village. We will then taking the adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. After the rafting, we will drive to Sungai Rutas village to get our boat crossing the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin for staying overnight at hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 05 FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your flight to next destination. (B)
