The island is covered by lush tropical rainforests and mountains, resulting in much of the terrain being virtually impassable and large areas still unexplored. If you wish to get the real wildlife tour, here’s the place. This island is the home of endemic and unusual wildlife such as orangutans and proboscis monkeys. The island is also called as an “island of rivers”. Rivers really play a very important role in communication and economy of the inhabitants. Most of civilizations are centered along rivers, such as; houses, activities, transportation, markets, etc. Exploring the river society is truly exciting, a civilization that certainly different with our normally lives on the land with the floating market of Banjarmasin which is known as the most unique market in the world as one of the fantastic river civilization sightseeing.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – BATU HAPU CAVE – NAGARA – LOKSADO

Arrive in Banjarmasin airport with morning flight and then directly driving to Batu Hapu village to explore the cave with remarkable panorama that has graced the stalactite and stalagmite. We will then continue driving to Nagara village to get our boat crossing the river to Nagara Lake for observing water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers’ unique activities, as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to Loksado across the beautiful swampy and lowland landscape into the Plateau of Meratus Mountain. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at lodge in Loksado. (L,D)

Day 02 JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast at lodge, we will proceed to explore jungle and Dayak land crossing primary and secondary rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the afternoon, we will back to the lodge through other trail with different beauties of nature. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 03 BAMBOO RAFTING – SUNGAI RUTAS – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. We will then driving to Sungai Rutas village to get our boat crossing the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin for staying overnight at hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 04 FLOATING MARKET – SAMPIT

Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Afterwards, driving across beautiful peat swamp forest landscape to reach Sampit with some stop over on interesting spots we will meet en route. Arrive at Sampit and directly check in to the hotel. Day 05 SAMPIT – TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the hotel and then driving to Kumai village for boarding the houseboat to Tanjung Puting National Park. The houseboat is a traditional wooden river boat with roof forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. The boat crew including the boatman, cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon, we will slowly explore the romantic river by the houseboat while observing the primates along the riverside. Overnight at houseboat or Rimba Lodge with dining on the boat, with facilities; mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled “mineral” water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen. Day 06 TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will board the houseboat for cruising upward the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. At this station, we will explore the story of first orangutan project in the world, we will then trekking to the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans are given additional foods. Afterwards, we will sail down the river while exploring the nature and wildlife on riverside. In the peaceful evening, we can do night trekking to explore wildlife, such as; tarantula, sleeping birds, frogs, mousedeers, insects, etc. Lunch and dinner will be served at houseboat. Staying overnight at Rimba Lodge or houseboat. (B,L,D)

Day 07 TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK

Get the morning river safari by houseboat to observe river ecology and wildlife along the riverside. En route, we will stop at Pondok Tanggui Feeding Station to watch rangers feed orangutans. Lunch will be served on boat while sighting wild animal activities along the riverside. Next, we will depart to Tanjung Harapan Feeding Station for viewing the feeding process of orangutans. Afterwards, we will proceed to Tanjung Harapan village for sightseeing villagers’ daily activities. Enjoy the natural river view on the way back and overnight at houseboat or Rimba Lodge. Lunch and dinner will be served at houseboat. (B,L,D)

Day 08 TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, we will get the morning safari to explore wildlife on riverside. Afterwards, proceed to Kumai village to catch the car for driving to Pangkalan Bun airport for your flight to next destination. (B)
