Borneo River Tour

The Borneo island plays host to an enormous assortment of uniquely endangered wildlife, such as the charming and gentle orangutans, colorful proboscis monkeys, and noisy gibbons.

The Flora and fauna abound on this paradise-like sanctuary, with a staggering 15,000 species of flowering plants and 3,000 tree types, in addition to rare orchid and 12 species of rafflesia (the world’s largest flower).

Borneo has about 222 species of terrestrial mammals, 420 species of resident birds, and more than 3,000 species of anthropod fauna with 1,000 species of it are ants. There are also about 300 species of reptile, 100 species of amphibian, and 440 freshwater fish species which is about the same as Sumatra and Java combined. All of these contributes to what is called as an incredibly diverse area that can make for an ultimate holiday to remember.


Meet at airport and directly transfer to Sungai Rutas village to get our boat cruising the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, driving to Loksado across the beautiful swampy and lowland landscape into the plateau of Meratus mountain. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at lodge in Loksado. (L,D)


After breakfast at the lodge, we will proceed to explore jungle and Dayak land crossing primary and secondary rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the afternoon, we will back to the lodge through other trail with different beauties of nature. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on lodge. (B,L,D)


After breakfast, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside meanwhile our coach will be waiting on the downstream for transferring to Banjarmasin for overnight on hotel. (B,L,D)


Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Next, proceed to Palangka Raya for overnight at hotel. In the peaceful afternoon, we will visit Arboretum Nyaru Menteng to explore the endemic vegetation of peat swamp forest and some wild animals such as; birds, monitor lizards, black leaf monkeys, and other animals that emerge occasionally. Next, we will proceed to Bukit Tangkiling Nature Reserve to hike up the hill to enjoy beautiful view of plain and rivers from the top as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterward, return to the hotel for overnight. (B,L)


After breakfast, we will proceed to Tangkiling port for catching our motorized canoe to reach the Orangutan Island while sightseeing the romantic river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. The orangutan island is managed by Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) for orangutan rehabilitation before releasing to the wild. We will then driving accross beautiful landscape of peat swamp forest into Kereng Pakahi Port to cross the Katingan River while sightseeing wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, kingfishers, hornbills, long tailed maccaques, etc. Afterwards, proceed to Sabangau National Park through Punggu Alas creek for check in to homestay. In a very dry condition of the creek, we have to trek for about 1,5 hours to reach the homestay at WWF Visitor Centre in Sabangau National Park. In the peaceful evening, we can do a night boating with hope to see nocturnal animals such as birds, snakes, insects, etc. (B,L,D)


After breakfast on the creekside, we will do trekking with ranger into the jungle to explore flora and fauna such as orangutans, monkeys, birds, endemic vegetation, etc. These sightings cannot be guaranteed. Back to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon, we will check out the homestay and proceed to Lake Bulat for check in to a guesthouse. The Lake Bulat is reddish-brown colored water that comes from the peat swamp, home to proboscis monkeys, macaques, big fruit bats, and variety of water birds and fish. (B,L,D)


After breakfast at the guesthouse, we will proceed to Palangka Raya hotel or airport to catch your afternoon flight to next destination. (B)
