Sangalaki is the world Capital of Mantas, the familiar shape of Manta Rays emerge from all directions. Their wing tips breaking the surface at regular intervals. Snorkeling is the way to interact with these gentle plankton feeders. They are unperturbed by your presence, they swim in eurythmy and sometimes glide right up to you before making a sharp nose dive into the blue. It is not unusual to find ten of them encircling you. Though most of them are about 12 ft wide with a white belly, there are a few black giants with 20ft wing spans. In the channels, either feeding, clearing or just crossing, there are mantas everywhere, and that makes Sangalaki is in the top three destinations in the world to see Mantas. While the island lake of Kakaban is an exceptional marine environment. The interior of the island is filled by salt water lagoon and teemed by at least four species of stingless jelly fish including one of an upside species of Cassiopea. About three species of Halimeda green algae cover the bottom, and mangrove roots live side by side with tunicates, sponges, tube worms, bivalves, crustacean, anemonies, sea cucumbers, sea snakes and at least five known species of gobies. It is a truly amazing experience to dive and snorkel among these animals.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BERAU – TANJUNG BATU – DERAWAN

Meet at airport and directly transfer to Tanjung Batu village for about 2,5 hours crossing mountainous and rainforest, and then proceed to Derawan island by speed boat for about 25 minutes for check in to the cottage. In the peaceful afternoon, we can do snorkeling around the cottage or exploring the daily life of villagers. Free at your own leisure.

Day 02 DERAWAN – KAKABAN – SANGGALAKI – DERAWAN

Breakfast at cottage and then proceed to Kakaban island by boat for snorkeling and exploring the wondrous sea garden with 4 different species of jelly fish that can be found by thousands. Next, proceed to Sangalaki snorkeling on the site which is called as the Capital of The Mantas Rays, including kinds of exotic fish, such as; Napoleons, purple sea horses, tunitates, dwarf scorpion fishes, and not to forget the coral sea garden which is fascinating. Afterwards, return to the cottage for overnight. (B,L,D)
