The Mighty Barito River is more than eight hundred kilometers long with a drainage basin of 100,000 square kilometers, and almost 5 kilometers wide at its mouth become the lifeblood for hundreds of thousands of people. It originates in the Muller Mountain Range which is called as the Heart of Borneo, from where it flows southward into the Java Sea. Its main affluent is the Martapura River and it passes through the city of Banjarmasin. Along its length is found a huge array of cultures, commerce, habitats and wildlife, as it flows through cities and jungles, around mines and fields. This mighty river crossing through the jungle, mountain, cliffs and valleys, old tribes with rich cultures, villages and cities, and every kind of plant and animals that Kalimantan has to offer, including the ten different primate species.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN PALANGKA RAYA – SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK – SUNGAI GOHONG VILLAGE

Arrive at Palangka Raya airport with morning flight and directly transfer to Kereng Bangkirai Port to get the boat crossing the fascinating black river through lush pandanus trees to reach Sungai Koran Station of Sebangau National Park. We will then explore the jungle with hope to spot wildlife such as orangutans, gibbons, monkeys, snakes, etc. Return to Kereng Bangkirai Port and then driving to Sungai Gohong Village for check in to the local hotel. Day 02 SUNGAI GOHONG VILLAGE – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – BETUNG – BATILAP

After breakfast,  we will proceed to the jetty for catching our motorized canoe to approach the Orangutan Island while sightseeing the beautiful natural black river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. We will then drive across pristine lowland forest and peat swamp landscape to Betung Village, and then crossing the Barito River and Black Puning River to reach Batilap Village to stay overnight at the floating or stilt house of local people. Day 03 BATILAP – BLACK PUNING RIVER – BUNTOK TOWN

After breakfast at the local house, we will be trekking into the jungle with hope to spot the wild orangutans and other wildlife such as birds, sun bears, gibbons, as well as various vegetation of Borneo. In the peaceful afternoon, we will cross further the Black Puning River while exploring the wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques, birds and others are usually showing up. Afterwards, proceed to Buntok town for check in to the local hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 04 BUNTOK TOWN – BLACK ORCHID – NAGARA LAKE – LOKSADO

Breakfast at the hotel and then proceed to Sanggu Village to explore the rare black orchid, pitcher plants, and other vegetation. We will continue driving to Mantaas village to get our boat crossing the river into Nagara lake for observing water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers’ unique activities, as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to Loksado across the beautiful swampy and lowland landscape into the plateau of Meratus mountain. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and stay overnight at the lodge in Loksado. Day 05 BAMBOO RAFTING – TANUHI HOTSPRING – SUNGAI RUTAS – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will have a short trekking into the Dayak land for exploring the rainforest, longhouse, and the waterfall nearby the village. We will then taking the adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. Next, proceed to Tanuhi Village to get relaxing at the pool of natural hotspring. We will then driving to Sungai Rutas village to get our boat crossing the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin to stay overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 06 FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, we will leave to the floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to Banjarmasin airport for your onward flight to the next destination. (B)
