Tanjung Puting Boat The Borneo Island has some of the world’s most wildlife-rich equatorial rainforests, incredible landscapes, the indigenous culture, as well as the tasty and various foods. The remarkable varieties of wildlife and vegetation coupled with personal interaction and unique culture of the Dayak and Malay ethnics that will provide the adventure with a truly challenged experience. For the hardcore adventurers, this island offers many options to satisfy their desires, people can do some interesting activities such as; rafting and cruising the beautiful rivers and lakes, traverse through traditional remote villages and primary rainforests, taste the delicious foods which are combination of Indonesian, Malay, and Chinese cuisines, and taking the wildlife boat safari crossing the national parks which can be the highlights of this majestic island.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN SAMARINDA – KUYUNG – MUARA MUNTAI

Arrive at Samarinda airport and directly transfer to Kuyung for about 3,5 hours drive and then crossing the Mahakam River to reach Muara Muntai Village. On the way, we will have the opportunity to spot the wildlife and people daily activities at the riverside. Afterwards, proceed to check in to the homestay of the village. (L,D)

Day 02 MUARA MUNTAI – MANCONG – KUYUNG – SAMARINDA

After breakfast, we will explore the exotic of Muara Muntai village with the long wooden bridge which is made of iron wood linking all the roads and alleys of the hamlet. Next, proceed to Mancong by motorized canoe crossing the Jempang Lake of which we will have the opportunity to view plenty of water bird species and fishermen floating houses as well as the romantic Ohong River where proboscis monkeys, monitor lizards and other wild animals are hanging around at riverside. In Mancong, we will explore an exotic longhouse and Benuaq Dayak daily life. Afterwards, proceed to Kuyung to catch our car for driving back to Samarinda to stay overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 03 SAMARINDA – BUKIT BANGKIRAI – TANAH GROGOT

Breakfast at hotel and then driving to Bukit Bangkirai to observe the Borneo tropical rainforest by a short jungle trekking and climbing the canopy bridge to view the forest from above. Afterwards, proceed to Tanah Grogot town to stay overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 04 TANAH GROGOT – LATI PETANGIS PARK – CANTUNG RIVER – BATU LICIN

After breakfast, we will leave to Lati Petangis Forest Park to explore the rainforest and wildlife such as gibbons, white fronted langurs, long tailed macaques, giant squirrel, birds, etc. We will then driving across beautiful Karst topography, jungle, and mountainous landscape to reach Cantung Village to get the boat boat crossing down the river to spot wildlife such as estuarine crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, silvery langurs, monitor lizards, birds, and other wild animals that hang around the riverside. Afterwards, proceed to Batu Licin to stay overnight at the local hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 05 BATU LICIN – LIANG BANGKAI CAVE – LOKSADO

After breakfast, we will proceed to Liang Bangkai Cave to explore the natural rock formation and Pre-historic trace as well as the wildlife around the forest. We will then driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape to reach Loksado to stay overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 06 JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast at the lodge, we will proceed to explore jungle and Dayak land crossing primary and secondary rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the afternoon, we will back to the lodge through other trail with different beauties of nature. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 07 BAMBOO RAFTING – SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK

After breakfast, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside meanwhile our coach will be waiting on the downstream for driving across mountainous landscape into Sultan Adam Forest Park for check in to the resort. We can spend the afternoon with tea or coffee while enjoying the beautiful view of Meratus Mountain landscape from the resort. If we are lucky, we will spot troop of monkeys on the forest around the resort. (B,L,D)

Day 08 SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK – RIAM KANAN LAKE – BANJARMASIN

Breakfast at the resort while enjoying the misty of Meratus Mountain and the sound of the nature. We will then leave to Aranio port to catch our boat crossing the Riam Kanan Lake for enjoying the rainforest and mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, as well as the wildlife on the lakeside. Next, proceed to Cempaka village to explore people dig hole and take the material out to find rough diamond in a traditional diamond digging. Afterwards, driving to Banjarmasin to stay overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 09 FLOATING MARKET – SAMPIT

Early in the morning, we will leave to the floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to the hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at the riverside. Breakfast at the hotel and then driving across beautiful peat swamp forest landscape into Sampit. We can make some stops at the interesting spots we meet enroute. Arrive at Sampit and directly check  in to the hotel. Lunch and dinner will be served at the local restaurants. (B,L,D)

Day 10 SAMPIT – KUMAI VILLAGE – TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the hotel and then driving to Kumai Village to board the houseboat into Tanjung Puting National Park. The houseboat is a traditional wooden river boat with the roof that forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. The boat crew including the boatman, cook and expert guide. In the afternoon, we will slowly cruise the romantic river to explore the flora and fauna along the riverside. In the peaceful evening, we can do a night walk to explore the nocturnal animals, such as; tarantula, sleeping birds, frogs, mousedeers, insects, etc. Staying overnight at the houseboat or Rimba Lodge with dining at the boat, with facilities; mattress, pillow, fine meals, mineral water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available at the boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen. Day 11 TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will cruise upward the river into Pondok Tanguy to explore the rehabilitation center of the new ex-captive orangutans. Next, return to the houseboat for cruising up the creek into Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. At this station, we will explore the story of the first orangutan project in the world, we will then trek to the feeding station to see the rehabilitated orangutans are given additional food. Afterwards, cruising down the river while exploring nature and wildlife at the riverside. Lunch and dinner will be served at the houseboat. Staying overnight at Rimba Lodge or in the houseboat. Day 12 TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – KUMAI VILLAGE – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, we will get the morning safari to explore nature and wildlife at the riverside. Afterwards, proceed to Kumai Village to catch the car for driving to the airport for your onward flight to the next destination. (B)
