Borneo or Kalimantan is the third largest island in the world. The landscapes with the wildlife are diverse spreading from high mountains into low land and rugged coastlines. Most of the island is covered with dense ancient tropical rainforest. It is home to the rare and endangered wildlife includes the orangutans, pygmy elephants, gibbons, proboscis monkeys, flying frogs, crocodiles, sun bears, and other rare species. The tropical rainforest of Borneo is one of the richest biodiversity in the world. Nearly 11,000 species of flowering plants with a third of these are indigenous. In one 6.5 hectare area of Borneo’s lowland tropical rainforest consists over 700 species of trees that can be recorded. Only few other places that have this kind of variety.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – BATU HAPU – SUNGAI RUTAS – LOKSADO

Meet at airport and directly transfer to Batu Hapu village to explore the cave with remarkable panorama that has graced the stalactite and stalagmite. We will then driving to Sungai Rutas village to get our boat crossing the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, proceed to Loksado across the beautiful swampy and lowland landscape into the plateau of Meratus mountain. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at the lodge in Loksado. Day 02 JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast at lodge, we will proceed to explore jungle and Dayak land crossing primary and secondary rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the afternoon, we will back to the lodge through other trail with different beauties of nature. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 03 BAMBOO RAFTING – ANGSANA BEACH

After breakfast, we will get the adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. We will then driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape to reach Angsana Beach to stay overnight at the beach cottage. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at the cottage. Day 04 ANGSANA BEACH – ASAM RIVER – BANJARMASIN

Enjoy the wonderful morning at the beach resort while having breakfast. We will then driving to Asam River for catching our boat to cruise the romantic Asam River river to spot crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, langurs, birds, and other wild animals. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin for overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 05 FLOATING MARKET – TUMBANG NUSA – PALANGKA RAYA

Early in the morning, we will leave to the floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Breakfast at the hotel and then driving across the beautiful peat swamp forest landscape to reach Tumbang Nusa Forest to visit the Peat Swamp Reforestation Project. If we are lucky, we can meet wild animals such orangutan, macaques, gibbon, etc. Afterwards, continue driving to Palangka Raya to stay overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 06 PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – AIRPORT

After breakfast, we will proceed to the jetty for catching our motorized canoe to reach Orangutan Island while sightseeing the beautiful natural black river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. Free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your flight to the next destination. (B)
