Borneo Jungle Trekking I – Borneo or Kalimantan is well known as the center of Mega Diversity, this world’s third largest island is the richest diversity of vegetation among the islands belonging to the sub territory of Sunda Bio-Geography which is comprising the islands of Borneo, Sumatera, and Java. It is the center for the tree species belonging to the dipterocarpaceae family. Trekking to the jungle of Borneo will let visitors touching the unspoiled rainforest flowed by wonderful rivers and grown by diverse of vegetation that sustain the ecological harmony for all creatures as well as the unique culture of the Dayak people that unite to the nature with their friendly attitude and hospitality that tend to make visitors immediately feel at home in their midst.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – PANJARATAN – SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK

Arrive at Banjarmasin airport and directly transfer Cempaka Village to explore people dig hole and take the material out to find rough diamond in a traditional diamond digging. Next, driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape to reach Panjaratan Village to get the boat crossing the river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, black leaf monkeys, long tailed macaques, birds, etc. Afterwards, proceed to Sultan Adam Forest Park for check in to the resort. We can spend the afternoon with tea or coffee while enjoying the beautiful view of Meratus Mountain landscape from the resort. If we are lucky, we will spot troop of monkeys on the forest around the resort. (L,D)

Day 02 SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK – RIAM KANAN LAKE – QUINAM FOREST

In the morning, we can enjoy the misty of Meratus Mountain, the sound of nature, and the sunrise above the mountain from the hilltop near the resort. Breakfast at the resort and then proceed to the port to get the boat crossing upward the Riam Kanan Lake to reach Belangian village while sighting beautiful mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, and boat making as well as species of bird fly over the lake. Afterwards, transfer by motorbike to Hutan Bakar to start the trekking to Quinam Forest crossing secondary and primary forest. During the trek, we will have opportunity to spot and hear wild animals such as gibbons, maroon leaf monkeys, pig tailed macaques, hornbills, insects, etc. In the late afternoon, we will set our jungle camp deep in the forest. In the peaceful evening, we can do night walk to explore the wildlife such as sleeping bird, snake, insects, frog, civet, deer, etc. Return to the jungle camp for overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 03 QUINAM FOREST – KAHUNG VALLEY

Breakfast at the jungle camp and then trekking deeper the rainforest into Kahung Valley crossing gigantic dipterocarp trees while exploring nature and wildlife. In the afternoon, we will set our jungle camp at the riverside. In the rest time, our porter will teach us how to set the animal traps and hunting in the jungle. (B,L,D)

Day 04 KAHUNG VALLEY – WATERFALL – HAPUNIT

Breakfast at the jungle camp and then trekking deeper under the canopy beside of beautiful cascades to reach a fascinating waterfall. If you want more, you can trek up into the Mount Kahung Peak to view the rainforest from above. We will then trek down to Hapunit to set our campsite at the riverside. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and staying overnight at the jungle camp. (B,L,D)

Day 05 HAPUNIT – NAGARA – LOKSADO

After breakfast at the jungle camp, we will then trek down to Hapunit to explore the rainforest with gigantic trees. Next, proceed to the village to get the boat crossing downward the mountainous lake into the port to catch the car for driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape into Nagara village to get our boat crossing the river into Nagara lake to observe water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers’ unique activities, as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, continue driving to Loksado to stay overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 06 LOKSADO – BAMBOO RAFTING – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will have a short trekking into the Dayak land for exploring the rainforest, longhouse, and the waterfall nearby the village. We will then get the adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin to stay overnight at the hotel. Day 07 FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, we will leave to the floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside, free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to Banjarmasin airport for your onward flight to the next destination.
