Borneo Jungle Trek & Rock Climbing

Meratus Mountain lies from the northern to southern of South Borneo with the highest peak is on Mount Besar, the area is covered by lush tropical rainforest, rivers, mossy stones, and tremendous waterfall. The range is inhabited by the Bukit Dayak ethnic, most of them are still maintaining the ancestor belief and tradition, such as; nomadic farming, animals hunting, and ritual ceremonies as part of their life. They are living on longhouses as the center of ritual ceremonies and community. The longhouse here is rather different with other longhouse in all places of Borneo, it is a rectangle building where family rooms all over the building surrounding the communal veranda in the middle.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – DIAMOND DIGGING – RIAM KANAN LAKE – SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK

Arrive at Banjarmasin airport and directly transfer to Cempaka village to explore people dig hole and take the material out to find rough diamond in a traditional diamond digging. Next, heading to Aranio port to get the motorized boat crossing the Riam Kanan Lake for enjoying the rainforest and mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, coffee plantation, as well as the wildlife on the forest around the lake. Afterwards, proceed to the jetty to get the car for driving across mountainous landscape into Sultan Adam Forest Park for check in to the resort. We can spend the afternoon with tea or coffee while enjoying the beautiful view of Meratus Mountain landscape from the resort. If we are lucky, we will spot troop of monkeys on the forest around the resort. (L,D)

Day 02 SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK – BATU HAPU CAVE – SUNGAI RUTAS – LOKSADO

In the morning, we can enjoy the mist of Meratus Mountain, the sound of nature, and the sunrise above the mountain from the hilltop near the resort. Breakfast at the resort and then leaving to Batu Hapu Village to explore the cave with remarkable panorama that has graced the stalactite and stalagmite. Next, driving to Sungai Rutas village to get the boat crossing the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals at the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, proceed to Loksado across the beautiful swampy and lowland landscape into the plateau of Meratus mountain. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and overnight at lodge in Loksado. (B,L,D)

Day 03 LOKSADO – JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast, we will be trekking up to Magaringsai Dense Primary Forest crossing villager farmlands, cinnamon and rubber trees, wilderness, hills, rivers and cascades. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and overnight at jungle camp. (B,L,D)

Day 04 JUNGLE TREK – MALARIS WATERFALL – LOKSADO

Breakfast at the camp and then trekking down to Malaris waterfall crossing wilderness, hills, rivers and cascades, suspended bamboo bridges, cinnamon and rubber trees. Afterwards, trekking down to Loksado for check in to the lodge. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 05 BAMBOO RAFTING – TANUHI HOTSPRING – BATULAKI

After breakfast, we will get the adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. We will then driving to Tanuhi Village to get relaxing at the pool of natural hotspring. Afterwards, proceed to Batulaki hill for setting a campsite near the cliff. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at camp on riverside. (B,L,D)

Day 06 ROCK CLIMBING – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will do the rock climbing on the limestone cliff of Batulaki hill with various challenging grades and routes. We will start our climbing from bamboo rafts caused the cliff stands on the river. Here, we can also bathe and swim after a hard climbing since the river is so fresh and beautiful. In the afternoon, we will drive to Banjarmasin to stay overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 07 FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, we will leave to the floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to Banjarmasin airport for your onward flight to the next destination. (B)
