Sultan Adam Forest Park is known as Tahura Sultan Adam, it is one of forest area located in South Borneo. The forest park is one of the tourist attractions which offers natural beauty mountain and tropical rainforest. A forest measuring 112,000 hectares and located in two districts, Banjar and Tanah Laut, has been set as the Grand Forest Park of Indonesia under a Presidential Decree No. 52 of 1989. The dorest park consists of several areas, including the Riam Kanan Protected Forest covering an area of 55,000 hectares, the Kinain Buak covering an area of 13,000 hectares, the Pelaihari Wildlife Reserve covering an area of 36,400 hectares. The area of Kahung Valley which is part of the Sultan Adam Forest Park known as one of the best place for a jungle trekking in Borneo. This area is part of Meratus Mountains and as one of the primary forests which is rarely touched by people, stores hundreds to thousands of typical species of flora and fauna, includes; meranti wood (Shorea spp.), ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri), kahingai (Santiria tomentosa), damar (Dipterocarpus spp.), pampahi (Ilexsimosa spp.), kuminjah laki (Memecylon leavigatum), keruing (Dipterocarpus grandiflorus), mawai (Caethocarpus grandiflorus), jambukan (Mesia sp.), kasai(Arthocarpus kemando) and many more. The fauna includes; gibbon (Hylobates muelleri), Javan Lutung (Trachypithecus auratus), sun bear (Helarctos malayanus), Sambar deer (Cervus unicolor), Muntjacs (Muntiacus muntjak), Bornean yellow muntjac (Muntiacus atherodes), Java mouse deer (Tragulus javanicus), and many more.
Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – RIAM KANAN LAKE – KAHUNG VALLEY
Arrive at Banjarmasin airport with morning or noon flight and directly driving to Aranio port to board the boat for crossing upward the Riam Kanan Lake to reach Belangian village while sighting beautiful mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, and boat making as well as species of bird fly over the lake. Afterwards, transfer by motorbike to Hutan Lindung to start the trekking into Kahung Valley crossing rivers, rocks, gigantic trees, and slippery trails of the primary rainforest. We will then setting our campsite at the riverside. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and staying overnight at the jungle camp. (L,D)
Day 02 KAHUNG VALLEY – WATERFALL – HAPUNIT
Breakfast at the jungle camp and then trekking deeper under a canopy of impressive trees and beside of beautiful cascades to reach a fascinating waterfall. We can swim and enjoy the fresh water and sound of nature with hope spotting wildlife crossing the canopy. In the afternoon, we will trek down the jungle into Hapunit to set our campsite at the riverside. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and staying overnight at the jungle camp. (B,L,D)
Day 03 HAPUNIT – RIAM KANAN LAKE – LIANG BANGKAI CAVE – BATU LICIN
After breakfast at the campsite, we will then trekking down to the village to board the boat crossing downward the mountainous lake into Bukit Batu to catch our car for driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape into Liang Bangkai Cave to explore the natural rock formation and Pre-historic trace. Afterwards, continue driving to Batu Licin to stay overnight at the local hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 04 BATU LICIN – CANTUNG RIVER – LANGARA HILL – LOKSADO
After breakfast, we proceed to Cantung Village to get the boat crossing down the river to spot wildlife such as estuarine crocodile, proboscis monkeys, silvery langurs, monitor lizards, birds, and other wild animals that hang around the riverside. We will then driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape into Lumpangi Village to hike the Langara hill top to view an amazing blend of river, rainforest, and mountain. Afterwards, continue driving to Loksado to stay overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 05 LOKSADO – BAMBOO RAFTING – NAGARA – BANJARMASIN
After breakfast, we will have a short trekking to the Dayak land for exploring the rainforest, longhouse, and the waterfall nearby the village. We will then taking the adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. Next, proceed to Tanuhi Village to get relaxing at the pool of natural hotspring. We will then driving to Nagara village to get our boat crossing the river to Nagara lake for observing water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers’ unique activities, as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, heading to Banjarmasin to stay overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 06 FLOATING MARKET – SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK – PALANGKA RAYA
Early morning, we will check out the hotel and proceed to the floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat. We will then driving across the beautiful peat swamp forest landscape to reach Kerang Bangkirai Port to get the boat crossing the fascinating black river through lush pandanus trees to reach Sungai Koran Station of Sebangau National Park. We will then explore the jungle with hope to spot wildlife such as orangutans, gibbons, monkeys, snakes, etc. Return to Kereng Bangkirai Port and then driving for about 30 minutes to Palangka Raya to stay overnight at the hotel. Day 07 PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – DEPARTURE
After breakfast, we will proceed to the jetty for catching our motorized canoe to reach Orangutan Island while sightseeing the beautiful natural black river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. Free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to the airport for your flight to the next destination. (B)
