Sultan Adam Forest Park is known as Tahura Sultan Adam, it is one of forest area located in South Borneo. The forest park is one of the tourist attractions which offers natural beauty mountain and tropical rainforest. A forest measuring 112,000 hectares and located in two districts, Banjar and Tanah Laut, has been set as the Grand Forest Park of Indonesia under a Presidential Decree No. 52 of 1989. The dorest park consists of several areas, including the Riam Kanan Protected Forest covering an area of 55,000 hectares, the Kinain Buak covering an area of 13,000 hectares, the Pelaihari Wildlife Reserve covering an area of 36,400 hectares. The area of Kahung Valley which is part of the Sultan Adam Forest Park known as one of the best place for a jungle trekking in Borneo. This area is part of Meratus Mountains and as one of the primary forests which is rarely touched by people, stores hundreds to thousands of typical species of flora and fauna, includes; meranti wood (Shorea spp.), ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri), kahingai (Santiria tomentosa), damar (Dipterocarpus spp.), pampahi (Ilexsimosa spp.), kuminjah laki (Memecylon leavigatum), keruing (Dipterocarpus grandiflorus), mawai (Caethocarpus grandiflorus), jambukan (Mesia sp.), kasai(Arthocarpus kemando) and many more. The fauna includes; gibbon (Hylobates muelleri), Javan Lutung (Trachypithecus auratus), sun bear (Helarctos malayanus), Sambar deer (Cervus unicolor), Muntjacs (Muntiacus muntjak), Bornean yellow muntjac (Muntiacus atherodes), Java mouse deer (Tragulus javanicus), and many more.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – SABANGAU NATIONAL PARK

Arrive at Palangka Raya airport with morning flight and directly driving to the jetty for catching our motorized canoe to approach the Orangutan Island while sightseeing the romantic river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. The Orangutan Island is managed by Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) for orangutan rehabilitation before releasing to the wild. We will then driving across beautiful landscape of peat swamp forest into Kereng Pakahi Port to cross the Katingan River while sightseeing wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, kingfishers, hornbills, long tailed macaques, etc. Afterwards, proceed to Sabangau National Park through Punggu Alas creek for check in to the jungle guesthouse. In the peaceful evening, we can do a night boating safari to explore the nocturnal animals at the riverside. (L,D)

Day 02 SABANGAU NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at the creekside, we will trek to the jungle to explore flora and fauna such as orangutans, monkeys, birds, endemic vegetation, etc. Return to the guesthouse for having lunch and take a rest. You can get relax by swimming at the creek in front of the guesthouse. In the peaceful afternoon, we will cross the river by motorized canoe to explore nature and wildlife of the riverside. Return to the guesthouse to stay overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 03 SABANGAU NATIONAL PARK – KERENG PAKAHI – KUALA KAPUAS

Early morning, we will cross up the creek into the lake to explore the flora and fauna including wild orangutans, monkeys, birds, and other animals at the creekside. Return to the guesthouse for breakfast and take a rest. We will then check out and crossing down the river into Kereng Pakahi Port. Afterwards, drive across the beautiful landscape of peat swamp forest to reach Kuala Kapuas town for check in to the local hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 04 KUALA KAPUAS – RIAM KANAN LAKE – QUINAM FOREST

Breakfast at the hotel and then drive to Aranio port to get the boat crossing upward the Riam Kanan Lake to reach Belangian village while sighting beautiful mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, and boat making as well as species of bird fly over the lake. Afterwards, transfer by motorbike to Hutan Bakar to start the trekking into Quinam Forest crossing secondary and primary forest. During the trek, we will have opportunity to spot and hear wild animals such as gibbons, maroon leaf monkeys, pig tailed macaques, hornbills, insects, etc. In the late afternoon, we will set our jungle camp deep in the forest. In the peaceful evening, we can do a night walk to explore the wildlife such as sleeping bird, snake, insects, frog, civet, deer, etc. Return to the jungle camp for overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 05 QUINAM FOREST – KAHUNG VALLEY

Breakfast at the jungle camp and then trekking deeper the rainforest into Kahung Valley crossing gigantic dipterocarp trees while exploring nature and wildlife. In the afternoon, we will set our jungle camp at the riverside. In the rest time, our porter will teach us how to set the animal traps and hunting in the jungle. (B,L,D)

Day 06 KAHUNG VALLEY – HAPUNIT – RIAM KANAN LAKE – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast at the jungle camp, we will then trek down to Hapunit to explore the rainforest with gigantic trees. Next, proceed to the village to get the boat crossing downward the mountainous lake into the port. Afterwards, driving to Banjarmasin for check in to the hotel. Lunch and dinner will be served at the local restaurants. Staying overnight at the hotel in Banjarmasin. (B,L,D)

Day 07 FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, we will leave to the floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to Banjarmasin airport for your onward flight to the next destination. (B)
