East Kalimantan is one of the five provinces in Borneo of Indonesia. It is also called as the Equatorial Pearl of Indonesia due to its abundant natural resources. The province offers magnificent natural and cultural beauties for visitors, one of them is the mighty Mahakam River which is meandering of hundreds kilometers through one of the largest tropical rainforest in the world with more than twenty main Dayak sub-ethnics that once was feared as the headhunters who settled on the river basin. Cruising the Mahakam River and encountering the rainforest will give you the opportunity to explore remote and unique world of the famous Dayak tribe on their harmonious life unite to the majestic nature of the island.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BALIKPAPAN – LOA JANAN – MUARA MUNTAI

Meet at airport and directly transfer to Loa Janan for boarding the houseboat to start the exciting adventure of Mahakam River. Lunch, dinner and overnight at houseboat. (L,D)

Day 02 MUARA MUNTAI – MANCONG – MAHAKAM RIVER

Arrive at Muara Muntai and sightseeing villagers daily activities from the long wooden bridge which is made of iron wood. Next, proceed to Mancong by motorized canoe crossing the Jempang Lake of which we will have the opportunity to view plenty of water bird species and fishermen floating houses as well as the romantic Ohong River where proboscis monkeys, monitor lizards and other wild animals are hanging around at riverside. In Mancong, we will explore an exotic longhouse and Benuaq Dayak daily life and watching colorful dress dancers that welcome you with an impressive attraction in front of their longhouse. Afterwards, return to houseboat for cruising downward the Mahakam River. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at houseboat. (B,L,D)

Day 03 TENGGARONG – BALIKPAPAN

After breakfast at houseboat, we will then walking to Museum of Mulawarman to explore the King Collection and Royal Cemetery of Kutai Kartanegara Kingdom. Afterwards, cruising downward the Mahakam River into Loa Janan and directly driving for about 2,5 hours to Balikpapan for overnight at hotel. Free at your own leisure. (B,L)

Day 04 DEPARTURE

Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your flight to next destination. (B)
