South Kalimantan is well known as land of thousand rivers, many big and small rivers, wide swamp and low land are the characteristic of the land. Some of those rivers like Barito, Nagara, and Martapura mark the boundary between South Kalimantan with the neighbor province of Central Kalimantan. At northern and eastern of the region is dominated by tropical rainforest and mountainous landscape, western part is swampy and low land, while southern side is coastal plain rich of fresh and salt water fish. The province crossed by a mountain range called Pegunungan Meratus, settled by the minority of Bukit Dayak people. South Kalimantan is one of the most interesting regions to visit in Kalimantan. There are docks of Buginese schooners moor, beautiful mosques, busy floating market, exotic canals, island of monkeys, old town of ancient houses and carving, beautiful beaches and coral, traditional diamond digging, jewelry and stone craft making, and the Meratus Mountain as a place to explore rainforest and the Dayak people.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – DIAMOND DIGGING – RIAM KANAN LAKE – SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK

Arrive at Banjarmasin airport and directly transfer to Cempaka village to explore people dig hole and take the material out to find rough diamond in a traditional diamond digging. Next, heading to Aranio port to get the motorized boat crossing the Riam Kanan Lake for enjoying the rainforest and mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, coffee plantation, as well as the wildlife on the forest around the lake. Afterwards, proceed to the jetty to get the car for driving across mountainous landscape into Sultan Adam Forest Park for check in to the resort. We can spend the afternoon with tea or coffee while enjoying the beautiful view of Meratus Mountain landscape from the resort. If we are lucky, we will spot troop of monkeys on the forest around the resort. (L,D)

Day 02 SULTAN ADAM FOREST PARK – BATU HAPU CAVE – NAGARA – LOKSADO

In the morning, we can enjoy the misty of Meratus Mountain, the sound of nature, and the sunrise above the mountain from the hilltop near the resort. Breakfast at the resort and then driving to Batu Hapu Village to explore the cave with remarkable panorama that has graced the stalactite and stalagmite. We will then proceed to Nagara village to get our boat crossing the river to Nagara lake to observe water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers’ unique activities, as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, continue driving to Loksado across beautiful swampy and lowland landscape into the plateau of Meratus mountain. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and overnight at the lodge in Loksado. Day 03 JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast at the lodge, we will proceed to explore jungle and Dayak land crossing primary and secondary rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the afternoon, we will back to the lodge through other trail with different beauties of nature. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 04 BAMBOO RAFTING – TANUHI HOTSPRING – SUNGAI RUTAS – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will get the adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside. Next, proceed to Tanuhi Village to get relaxing at the pool of natural hotspring. We will then driving to Sungai Rutas village to get our boat crossing the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin for staying overnight at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 05 FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, we will leave to the floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to Banjarmasin airport for your onward flight to the next destination. (B)
