Sangkulirang Mangkalihat Geopark Adventure

The Sangkulirang-Mangkalihat Geopark is a hidden gem which is covered by dense and pristine rainforest. Although several explorations have been conducted and discover many breathtaking features, most of the part is still remain unknown. It is filled with soaring karst-tower, crystal-clear spring, and gigantic caves, making this region incomparable with others. The Sangkulirang-Mangkalihat Geopark is also a home to 120 species of birds, 200 species of arthropods, including insects, 300 species of flora, and 50 species of fish and it is the main habitat for endemic animals of Borneo, namely the Bornean orangutan.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BERAU – LESAN RIVER – MERASA VILLAGE

Arrive at Berau airport with morning or noon flight and directly driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape to reach Merasa village. In the afternoon, we will get the boat crossing the Lesan River to explore the beautiful karst and wildlife at the riverside. Lunch will be served enroute, dinner and staying overnight at a local house. (L,D)

Day 02 MERASA VILLAGE – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – TALISAYAN

Breakfast at the local house and then crossing the river into Bawan Orangutan Island to explore the rehabilitated orangutans from the boat. Return to Merasa Village to catch the car for driving to Talisayan to stay overnight at the local hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 03 TALISAYAN – WHALE SHARK POINT – LABUAN CERMIN – TELUK SUMBANG

Early in the morning, we will leave to the jetty to get the motorized boat crossing the Sulawesi Sea to reach the whale shark point to explore and swim with the whale shark. Return to the hotel in Talisayan and then driving to Biduk-Biduk Village to get the boat int Labuan Cermin to swim in a beautiful clearwater lake. Afterwards, proceed to Teluk Sumbang to stay overnight at the eco lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 04 TELUK SUMBANG – JUNGLE TREK – KANIUNGAN ISLAND

Breakfast at the lodge and then trekking to the jungle with hope to spot wildlife such as orangutans, gibbons, macaque, sunbears, etc. Return to Teluk Sumbang to get the boat crossing the Sulawesi Sea to reach Kaniungan Island for check in to the resort. Free at your own leisure. (B,L,D)

Day 05 KANIUNGAN ISLAND – TURTLE BAY

Breakfast at the resort and free at your own leisure. You can do sunbathing on the white sandy beach, swimming and snorkeling around the island, or taking boat into the turtle island to explore green turtles, fish, and coral reef. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and stay overnight at the resort. (B,L,D)

Day 06 KANIUNGAN ISLAND – TELUK SUMBANG – BERAU

Breakfast at the lodge and free at your own leisure till the proper time for check out and proceed to Teluk Sumbang to catch our car for driving across beaches, coconut trees, rainforest, and villages to reach Berau for check in to the hotel. Lunch and dinner will be served at the local restaurants. (B,L,D)

Day 07 DEPARTURE

Breakfast at the hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to the airport for your flight to the next destination. (B)
